Club Captain's Big Weekend wrap up

Well, we’ve heard about the awesome results from our clubbies at the Cunningham Classic on Saturday, and we’ve reveled in the success of our annual James Eckersley Junior Classic and the Nicol Jackson Women’s Event. But, on Sunday, we had a swag of members competing at the Sunshine Coast Ironman 70.3 and the 2021 Auscycling QLD Cyclocross State Championships at Ipswich Cycle Park.
Congratulations to all who competed at these events; there were some absolutely outstanding achievements throughout the day! Special mentions must go to Dean Cane and Damien McMahon who both raced their first Ironman 70.3 at Pro level. With only 4 weeks’ prep, Dean finished in 12th place, while Damien slotted into 20th. Super efforts from both of you and I'm excited to see what the future holds.
Not to be outdone, the CXers among us stirred up the dust out west at the CX State Championships, with some huge results being obtained by Alexandra Larsson(1st, U17 Girls), Rory Larsson(2nd, U19 Men),  Gary Ersnt  (1st, Men’s Masters 2), Adam Barnes (2nd, Men’s Masters 3), and Phil Jones(2nd, Men’s Masters 7).

Congratulations to all of you who made the podium and to those who got out there and gave it their all!

The club has a double header of racing this weekend; the Eric Hawkins Memorial and Junior ITT Club Champs at Nundah on Saturday and the Club ITT Champs at Pinkenba on Sunday. Hope to see you all there.
