18th Aug 2018 Eric Hawkins Memorial Race Results
Thanks to Troy Hawkins and his daughter Georgie for their massive support in the third year of the Eric Hawkins Memorial, to remember Troy's Dad Eric who passed away 3 years ago.Troy has been very generous with prize money and trophies and it's always a great race. We had a small but quality field of 22 riders for the long format 75 minute race, some riders having already raced earlier at Murrarie.
A break of 9 riders formed early in the race, and maintained a small gap for quite some time. Eventually this group dropped riders one by one until finally their were four riders left Jordan Kerby, Nick Miller, Jack Bennett and Sam Volkers with a large 40 second gap. The chase group didn't look like catching them, but a massive effort in the last two laps saw Michael Bettany bridge across catching them coming onto the straight and sprinting for the win. This was a very unexpected but exciting finish to a great race.
So 'Pickles' Bettany picked up the $500 cash and trophy for first prize, with Jordan Kerby placing second and Sam Volkers third. Jack Bennett was fourth. The two primes were won by Murray McClymont and Jack Bennett. Georgie awarded Gary Ernst the special 'best dressed' award, with his flouro kit and socks.
Thanks again to Troy and family for their support and the riders for coming along.

Sat 21st July 2018 Frank Papp Memorial Handicap Results
Rod Tanner (Div 1) and Ren Bao Tsen (Div 2) trophy winners.
The annual handicap event commemorating late HWCC member Frank Papp was run on the challenging Somerset Dam 44Km course on Saturday 21st July under ideal cool but fine conditions. Unfortunately, the starting field was diminished by a number of riders who failed to appear after nominating.
The division 1 two lap race resulted in a win for Balmoral visitor Matthew Bickel with a time some 5 minutes slower than the 2017 winner. Rod Tanner was the first HWCC rider home and thus was awarded the perpetual Frank Papp trophy.
Division 1 placegetters
Rod Tanner. Shannon Proffit. Paul Woodward. Mitch Neumann. Matthew Bickel. Tom Coates.
Full Division 1 results here……
The division 2 race was a run-away win by under17 rider Ren Bao Tsen in a time almost 5 minutes faster than 2017. Ren had wanted to ride in the two lap race but the CA age/distance limitation meant that he had to ride in the shorter distance event.
Division 2 placegetters
Roger McIntosh. Ren Bao Tsen. Michael Travers. Lisa Cox.

23rd June 2018 Bill Osbourne Memorial Handicap Results
BCC rider Daniel Paddison got under the handicappers guard and had opened up a gap on the field after the first lap. He displayed his Triathlon background as he continued to increase his lead to greet the judge almost a minute clear of second placegetter Roger McIntosh. Unfortunately the Bill Osbourne trophy goes to a club member, so it was Roger who took it home this year. Dan Mulcahey did a great job on his first try at handicapping as most of the field finished in a one minute time slot.
The division two event was also a runaway win for HWCC junior rider Stephanie Leech who completed the one lap event with a recorded time only one and a half minutes outside scratchman and fellow junior JordanWight who finish second after a fine solo ride.
