Some of the stronger riders made their intentions clear in this race with Carl Rayner, John Murazak and Tony Wood all striking early to establish a lead. The lead bounced between Tony and John for the first 10 laps, until Carl went on a rampage taking the next four laps in a row in solo breakaway. Doug Torr, Jack Richards and Chris Elder took the next three, before John Murazak and Carl came back to dominate. Doug Torr, Tony Wood and Jack Richards fought hard to take the remaining points. On the bell lap it was Carl on 14, John on 10, and Tony on 6. In the bunch sprint it was Bob Darley who came out of top, Hayley Jones sprinting strongly to second place and first lady overall, Chris Elder third, and Doug Torr Fourth. Doug's fourth place tied him on 6 points with Tony Wood but got third on countback due the the last sprint. The last lap didn't change first and second however with Carl and John staying well clear on 14 & 10 points respectively.

B1 Points Race

Coyote big unit Croady was in fine form for this points race, but didn't have it all his way with Warren Biggs going solo for the first 2 laps, then David Shelberg,Dean Beltrame and Andrew Forrest all getting winning two sprints each making it a 3-way tie for second place (4 points) at lap twelve with Darren ahead by 2 points. Darren and Dean were the only ones in this group to win another sprint. A crash just before the esses brought down a few riders included David Shelberg.

As the bell rang, Darren was on 8 points but his nearest rivals did not score points in the final sprint and were overtaken by fast finishers Chris Saunders (1st final lap) and David White (2nd final lap). Shelberg, Biggs and Forrest were all tied on 4 points, so the 5th place went to Andrew Forrest on countback as he scored his points last.
